Indium can be made into a low-melting alloy with gallium, which is useful in making windows for nuclear reactors. It also can be used to form a corrosion-resistant mirror surface for glass. It is a critical component of the semiconductor Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) that is used in high-performing solar cells.
