Keeping your eyeglasses, goggles or visors clear of fog is important so that you can see properly. It also protects you from harmful dust and chemicals that may be on your glasses or visor. Fogging occurs when moisture comes into contact with the surface and causes condensation. To prevent this, anti-fogging agents are used. These are a mixture of chemicals that work to prevent the water from condensing. They can be permanent or temporary. Permanent anti-fog coating is typically applied to visors and safety glasses for better visibility. This is especially useful when going to the beach, in a swimming pool or during a workout.

A permanent anti-fog coating works by creating an invisible barrier that keeps the moisture off of visors and glasses. This allows you to see clearly, and is even more effective when compared to a chemical treatment that uses the same mechanism. This type of treatment can be applied to sunglasses, ski goggles, eyeglasses and visors. It can also be applied to a variety of surfaces including car windows, kitchen backsplashes and bathroom back-painted glass.

There are a number of factors that affect the performance of endoscopes in head and neck endoscopy. These include fogging, fluids and tissues passively encountered in the operative field and tissue response to accidental or intentional injury.1 Fogging is an important factor that can lead to decreased image clarity and deteriorate the patient’s quality of care. Several reports have indicated that a 4% chlorhexidine solution (hibiscrub) or baby shampoo can be used to reduce lens fogging for a few minutes during fiberoptic nasolaryngoscopy. This study aims to compare the efficacy of commercial anti-fogging agent with hibiscrub and baby shampoo to reduce fogging during head and neck endoscopy.
